Amidst an atmosphere of heightened tension and threatening circumstances, the Sudanese government secretly agreed to grant US military aircraft a ten-day window to gather persecuted Ethiopian refugees and take them to safety. In this dangerous, clandestine operation, Green Beret officer Jack Davis was chosen to lead 1,000 refugees through 200 miles of Ethiopian desert in a desperate attempt at freedom.
